2022 Annual Meeting Recap
SMPS Chicago kicked off the 2022-2023 year by getting together and recapping the previous program year. President Jenna Teitenberg welcomed attendees by celebrating the many accomplishments that occurred in the previous year, offering appreciation to the board, and focusing on the next year’s theme: Amplify.
2021-2022 Program Year Highlights
Before we officially introduced the next program year, Jenna reviewed some 2021-2022 highlights and achievements with the group.
Events
During the 2021-2022 program year, our chapter hosted 15 events. These ranged from special events to professional development workshops.
40th Anniversary
SMPS Chicago celebrated our 40th anniversary in June at LondonHouse. In total, $6,600 was raised for Project SYNCERE (Supporting Youth’s Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments). The funds will be used to prepare the minds of underrepresented students and create pathways for them to pursue STEM fields.
Membership
Our Chapter is growing! During the 2021-2022 program year, we exceeded our goal and grew to 238 members.

Jenna took some time to thank all board members from the previous program year. While some are remaining on for the next year, there are some newer faces to welcome aboard. The Programs/Professional Development Committee will be renamed Education going forward.
This Year’s Theme
“Amplify” is the new buzzword of SMPS Headquarters, and it’s for a great reason! This year, we will reengage, reenergize, and reinvigorate ourselves and each other. The Chicago Chapter looks forward to embracing this theme throughout the year through each of our events and offerings.
